Gothamist – The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has opened two new sanitation garages on Staten Island, enhancing waste collection, street cleaning, snow response, and daily operations.

Equipped with a new salt shed, rooftop solar panels, and a fueling station for sanitation vehicles, the facility enhances crews’ ability to keep streets clean year-round. Plans call for the demolition of the 68-year-old structure to make way for 232 new apartments and a grocery store.
